Virtus TrainingWhat is Virtus Training? Virtus Training is a child protection training program required by the Archdiocese. All adults in any contact with youth (Scouts or otherwise) are required to receive Virtus Training. This is the policy of Troop 397. Why should I be Virtus Trained? It is a common misconception that Virtus Training exists because the Archdiocese believes no Adult Volunteer can be trusted until they receive Training. This is not true. Virtus Training exists to give all Adult Volunteers the information they need to recognize the signs and symptoms of child abuse, especially sexual abuse, and to properly handle and report situations involving such abuse. Training is neither difficult nor time-consuming, and enables you to contribute your time to the Troop, and participate in Troop activities which are enjoyable to Scouts and Adult Volunteers alike. The Troop always needs Adult Volunteers, and greatly appreciates your time and effort. Please consider receiving Virtus Training so that you can be a part of the Troop's activities.
